If you haven’t heard of Lending Club, You Will!
Join us on January 27 when Lending Club’s Vice President of Brand and Communications, Beth Haiken, takes us through the steps that led to her company’s successful IPO and how the start-up is poised to compete with the big names in lending.
Lending Club, the San Francisco-based online lending platform that enables individuals and small businesses to get loans directly from investors, filed an initial public offering last month and immediately raised over a billion dollars. Founded in 2006 by CEO Renaud Laplanche, a previous Oracle executive, Lending Club has facilitated more than $5 billion in loans since launching its service in 2007. Transforming the traditional banking system by using technology to lower costs is what Lending Club is all about. The first to do this on a large scale, Lending Club, quite literally, is changing the way money is loaned throughout the United States. As the world’s largest online marketplace, it has written the rules that the rest of the industry is now following.
As VP of communications at Lending Club, in 2014 Beth managed public relations and communications for the largest IPO for a U.S.-based tech company. Her prior experience includes crisis and corporate turnarounds (Providian Financial), international expansion and M&A (The PMI Group, Inc.), and client service (Ogilvy Public Relations).
