It’s only mid-January, but 2014 is already sounding like a long time ago. Even so, here’s some fantastic news to start the year: our Holiday Party & Auction raised $8,500 for the 2015 scholarship program. Again, hearty and warm thanks to our amazing sponsors and auction donors, and kudos to Clara Franco, Elizabeth Risberg, and everyone else who helped make the party such a party.
And speaking of the scholarship program, Brenda Kahn, Scholarship Committee chair, says she’s received a whopping 17 applications from students at seven universities. If that’s not a record, it’s got to be close. Now for the fun part: Brenda, along with committee members Erik Steckel, Beverly Butler, Mary Currie, Lisa Stockwell, Hatti Hamlin and myself will begin determining who the recipients will be. Stay tuned.
If these next two paragraphs sound a bit desperate, it’s because they are:
- First, we need a House Chair asap. Patsy Barich has done an amazing job for past three years, but this slot is now open. Several people have committed to assisting each month, but we need someone who will lead. If you are interested (or can nominate someone!), please contact Terry Peckham or Mary Currie as soon as possible.
- Second, you can save your board members a ton of time and energy if you will take a moment to renew your membership today. Combine the caliber of our members and the incredible speakers our amazing Programs Committee puts together month after month, and that $65 membership fee is a steal. Do it today!
And Last But not Least…
A hearty congratulations to Jill Center, who joined Health Plan San Joaquin as Senior Communications Specialist on January 5.
