Making their tenth appearance at the annual SF Public Relations holiday lunch, Phil Matier and Andrew Ross regaled party-goers with some of the escapades that made their San Francisco Chronicle column a must-read in 2012, including naked guys, strip clubs and with predictions of what some elected officials are likely to be up to in the coming months. They unveiled several items that subsequently appeared in print: the SF Giants subtle (for now) opposition to the Warriors stadium-dubbed the “Aquadome” by M&R-and the very probable extension of the Central subway to North Beach.
The party and auction garnered a total of $7,100 for the Philip N. McCombs Scholarship Fund. Most of that sum was raised by the irresistible array of auction items.
Kudos to Silent Auction Committee Chairs Hatti Hamlin and Whitney Greer (right, in left picture) and their intrepid committee members for securing such tempting merchandise and organizing a smooth check-out system. And heartfelt thanks to Holiday Party Committee members Carol Crawford, Terry Peckham and Molly Blaisdell.
This year, the annual Christmas poem was delivered by Christmas “elf” John McDowell on behalf of his father, Duane, who could not attend.
Guests enjoyed fine wines courtesy of Jim Caudill and the Hess Collection. Thanks to Eric Steckel and Bars + Tone, photographer Timothy Shonnard captured the festivities in photos seen here.
