Although there is little information available at the time of this writing, SF Public Relations Round Table member Kim George died November 7 of pancreatic cancer. He had been diagnosed with the illness, which had already reached stage 4, just over a month earlier. He had just started chemotherapy but did not react well to the treatment and died suddenly.
Kim had been longtime SF PRRT member Maureen Knoll’s first employee at Delta Dental in 1981, and they had kept in touch after he moved to Los Angeles. When he moved back to the Bay Area a few years ago and was seeking work, Maureen introduced him to another PRRT member, who soon hired him for a job at PG&E. After he had attended a few meetings, Maureen sponsored Kim for PRRT membership, and Kim joined our group, soon making new friends and connections. Kim eventually left PG&E and he had built a thriving freelance business with clients such as Visa, who supported him in his last days by sending a check even if Kim was unable to deliver some of his assignments.
Those of us who knew Kim will remember most of all his wit, and his keen intelligence. He was a good friend to everyone lucky enough to be in his circle, and he is greatly missed.
Kim was cremated Nov. 14, and memorial services have not been announced as of this writing.
