How Burt’s Bees® and Greenworks® Changed Clorox’s Image
Interest in The Clorox Company’s commitment to sustainability dramatically increased with the company’s 2007 acquisition of Burt’s Bees® natural personal care and the 2008 launch of Green Works® naturally derived cleaners. Come hear Kathryn Caulfield, Vice President for Global Corporate Communications, Corporate Responsibility, and Crisis Management discuss how Clorox, in response to heightened scrutiny, established an innovative integrated communications program that increased transparency in all areas of its business.
At the heart of the Clorox communications program is what Kathryn refers to as a 21st century approach to corporate reporting. The Clorox annual report is the nucleus of the company’s strategy, integrating financial, environmental, social and governance performance. As a result of these efforts, the company received several accolades, including Clorox’s Chairman and CEO Don Knauss being named “Responsible CEO of the Year” by Corporate Responsibility magazine.
Kathryn will answer questions about why the transition to integrated communications was so important to Clorox, and why she believes it will quickly become imperative for other companies.
Kathryn serves as the senior-most leader responsible for global internal, external and crisis communications and corporate issue management; corporate responsibility strategy, integrated reporting and communication; as well as business continuity planning, corporate emergency response and crisis management. In 2012, ExecRank named the Napa Valley native a top communications expert. Before joining Clorox in 2000, Kathryn spent most of her career in the fashion and retail industries, including a stint in communications with Gap Inc., and five years managing a private fashion college.
