Covering Health Care in the Post-Affordable-Care-Act Era
In an era when budgets for investigative reporting are down and the demand for accurate health information is growing, how does a major metropolitan newspaper determine what health subjects it will cover and what sources it can trust? Join Victoria Colliver, health reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle for the past 13 years, to get insight on the role the Chronicle takes in supporting health literacy, the kind of stories she’s seeking, and the best way to present them for consideration.
Victoria will also provide an update on where things stand with the Affordable Care Act and answer your questions about the latest health care stories affecting us all.
Victoria Colliver has been writing about health for the San Francisco Chronicle since 2001. Prior to joining the Chronicle, she worked for the San Francisco Examiner, the Oakland Tribune, and the Stockton Record. A graduate of UC Davis, Colliver received a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. She previously received an Inter-American Press Association Scholarship to Venezuela and a Fulbright Scholarship to Spain.
